These dust collector adapters use embedded 3/8" x 1/8" magnets to connect to each other. Each coupling uses 8 magnets, alternating N & S poles. This ensures that any two couplers can connect together.
The models are designed to have a pause inserted into the print process so that you can place the magnets, then resume the print.
I used these magnets: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D62-N52
There are three models provided here:
I used Solid Edge Community edition to create the models, but Printable's will not let me upload the *.par files. I have exported *.stp files in case you need to make modifications.
I use Cura, and I use the ‘post-processing’ script “Pause at height” to insert a pause at the layer right before the magnet holes are covered. I find this layer by first slicing the model, then scanning through the layer view.
When the print pauses and you insert the magnets, it is very important that you alternate ‘north’ and ‘south’ orientation of the magnets. This allows any two couplers to join together.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
