I designed these hex shelves to organize my benchy collection. I wanted a way to record both the material properties (manufacturer, material, color name) while displaying a benchy and this was my solution. I have uploaded versions with 1-3 labels and one version with no labels at all.
Each hex can interlock with the other hexes and each has a hole on the back to make mounting these to a wall very easy.
Please note that the cali-dragon I show in my photos is not my model and is not a part of this set. You can find it here.
The model should be printed with the label side face down to avoid needing supports.
To achieve a multicolor print and make the label really pop you can insert a color change in prusa slicer at 1mm.
Text can be added to the labels in either Fusion 360 using the included .f3d file or more easily in PRUSA slicer using the text tool introduced in PRUSA Slicer 2.6. Regardless of the platform you use, the depth of the emboss should be 0.8 mm to achieve the multicolor effect shown here.
The width and depth of the hex shelf can be adjusted in Fusion 360 by loading the included .f3d file.
In the design workspace, under the SOLID tab, click MODIFY > change parameters. In the popup menu you can change the expression value to any value you choose. To 3D print the new model, navigate to the UTILITIES tab, then click MAKE > 3D print. Select the new model, uncheck send to 3D print utility, and click OK to save an STL of the model.
If you're particularly skilled with fusion 360, you can change where the labels are positioned by editing the circular revolve in the labels group on the timeline.
