This model allows you to replace your Ender 3 v2 original spool holder with a dual version. That is super useful if you do a lot of filament switching on multi color prints and don't want to have to take off the whole spool every time to swap it. It works pretty much the same as the original, being mounted on top of the printer frame, has very similar dimensions, but allows placing another spool on the backside.
Print the stem once, the roll twice. The roll should be printed upright, with the notched section on the bottom. Draw on some supports on the lower overhang ring for that part. The stem prints fine as-is. I've used PETG because I had my favourite color as that material. PLA probably works just as well. A rough quality probably works fine too, 0.32mm layer height was good enough for me.
There is zero clearance on the parts that slot together. For me that resulted in a perfect press fit, but a single M5x35 bolt and nut secure the two rolls in place.
You can keep using the existing bolts and slot nuts from the original spool holder, or aquire some more and add three or even five spools onto your printer! Why? I have no idea. But you could do it!
If you want to use this to add just a single DIY spool holder, print a second roll anyway, but cut it at 10mm, where the first taper starts. That way you get a “plug” for the other side, which you can use to hold the safety bolt.
