Over the couple last months I wrote a program which converts usual pictures into gCode so you can paint them with you printer or CNC. I did the first test with my printer and built a bigger machine later to make get bigger paintings.If youre interested in that you can find more on that on my homepage
I printed a paintbrush holder for my i3 clone but it doesn't matter what kind of printer you have and how you attach the brush to the printhead. I included a settings file in the zip file which I tested on my Prusa i3 clone and my ender 3 and it worked fine. The screenshots should explain how to load it and what do you have to adjust. To hold the color just print a little pot (I include the file for the small one I used in the tests) or use something you have sitting around. I usually use acrylic paint which works best on canvas.
