My girlfriend wanted to try out tablet weaving so I took the opportunity to design and print a kit for her as a valentines day gift. While my prints could be better, and they will be, I'm really happy with the design and hope she will put them to good use.
The cards are hexagonal with six holes for thread to pass through. The card or tablet can then be turned allowing the shuttle to pass through different combinations of thread. This in turns allows the creation of complex patterns and are often used for decorational belts and bands.
The holes are numbered with small hearts. By switching filament at the third layer if printing on 0.2 layer height you can get the effect in the picture. I used red pla+ on the bottom two layers and ultra silk gold on the top layer. The design includes small details but the issues you see in the images is mostly because of my printer not being tuned after a few fixes/upgrades.
I also include a storage and gift box with a decorational “gem” on the top in the shape of a heart. I printed the box in wood PLA and intend to stain it similar to how I did in this make. The gem is printed in translucent red pet-g.
The design is inspired by lots of examples you can find online and I looked at these two to get a feel for the size but altered it slightly to keep it simple and metric.
Update: Added a flatter jewel since while the original one looked cool by it self it didn't integrate well in to the box.
