There are a lot of filaments clip designs so I thought adding one more!
This design holds the filament in a curved cavity built-in the filament holder and the holder itself is hold on the spool via a knurled printed bolt.
The criteria of this design are:
- The filament holder will not puncture the vacuum bag where the filament spool is inserted.
- The filament is hold on the holder by friction due to the build-in curvature.
- The filament holder will be functional for long time. Material fatigue is not a factor.
- The filament will not fall-off when inserting the spool with the filament holder in the vacuum bag.
- Works with cardboard and plastic spools.
Usage
- The filament need to be trimmed to enter the curved hole.
- I like to place the spool vertically, holding the filament end tight, so does not unfold, and enter the filament end in the holder. Twisting the holder when inserting the filament helps the process.
Printing Notes
- For slicing, see image for proper orientation of parts.
- The holder must be printed with the triangular slit facing upwards.
- Bolt's base should be facing the print bed.
- Any material can be used. It's pre-sliced for PETG and MK3S printer.
- The tread tolerance could be tight. It will get looser after removing it and cleaning any debris.
- In case the original holder's threads are too tight I have added a second version with lower thread tolerance (Filament_Clip_Relaxed)
Enjoy!
