I love my Voron 2.4 300, but I've been bothered by how PLA print speed is grossly cooling bottlenecked. I haven't seen a CPAP based mod for the Mantis toolhead that I could just slap right on to replace the stock ducts so I made one myself.
What It Is:
- Designed to mount to the stock Mantis carriage
- Designed to be rigid and strong while being minimalistic for weight savings (~50g saved vs dual 5015 fan config)
- Ducts are placed for the Phaetus Rapido in UHF config. I may consider adding other hotend configs in the future (will probably make one for the Goliath if I can ever buy one) but I don't think this is a worthwhile mod for anything that isn't already a UHF type hotend (this is probably crazy overkill for a Revo)
Print Settings Recommendations:
- This is a somewhat challenging print. If your profile is not tuned well you may have issues.
- I used the standard Voron part settings, printed in Polymaker Black ASA
- I did use Arachne for slicing and would recommend it
- I did use the new organic supports in the Cura alpha, I was not able to successfully print this using the SuperSlicer stock support settings. I do recommend you print using tree or organic supports if you have issues.
Acknowledgements:
- Big thanks to the Voron community on Reddit/Discord/Facebook. Tons of great information and ideas that inspired this design.
- Thanks to Simon Vez for all his work on the VzBoT project, and all his work on getting CPAP cooling into 3D printers. I took a lot of inspiration from his designs, and based the actual duct-tips on his own CPAP part cooling design along with the CPAP hose connection.
