With one single part to replace, you can use your standard 6mm hex drill bit to rewind it automatically (drill winder).

You can use this part and add a 6mm hex drill bit to rewind it with your drill. If you already have the spool winder, this is the part that makes your life much easier. 

Print instructions

  • no support
  • whatever nozzle you have
  • external perimeter first (optional but recommended)
  • Variable layer height (I printed it with 0.2 - 0.48mm layer height in <20min)
  • 3 perimeters, 25% infill
  • Material: I used PETG (for long term use), this will probably work with any material for short term use

Dimensions

  • 6 mm = Hex-drill bit 6mm size
  • T0.3mm = Tolerance is 0.3mm inside for the drill bit
  • hex = it has 6 edges (hexagon)

I made it parametric. You can just change the values to get a part that fits your spool winder and printer tolerance

inner_radius_part_lengthPart length of the smaller (radius) part. This can be changed if it is not long enough to fit into the spool winder (21mm)
cutout_lengthHow much should the cutout go into the part (4mm)
Polygon_edges_NummerIf you want to change the number of edges. Standard 6 = hex drill bit

You probably only need to change the “polygon_size” parameter if your drill bit is lose or won't fit.

  • If you need other sizes, please let me know what parameter needs to be adjusted for you, then I will upload it. Or just remix it (if you have Fusion360 :)
