V3 of this design - including a spoolholder - is on Printables now

The great Filler filament holder by HugoG deserves a great wall-mount.

This wall-mount is designed with the following ideas in mind:

  • Strong enough to hold two 1Kg rolls
  • Minimal material use
  • Minimal use of space (No wasted space between the wall and rolls)
  • Easy to install
  • Easy to print (flat on the bed)

This V1 of the mount is a little more than 53g of Polyterra PLA.

The UP and DOWN mounts allow you to place four filament rolls close to each other. (See images) (DESIGN FLAW: Full spools will touch each other; You need to shift one of the mounts up by about 1 cm / 0.5inch to work with full spools)

V1 has 3.5mm screw holes with 10.25mm tool channels that also allow flathead screws for a strong hold to pass through.
V2 has a 3.5mm screw holes and a 10.75mm tool channel for magnetic bit holders to fit. If you want a slightly stronger part and don't care for a bigger tool channel, get V1

For effective material use, I used a bit of math and design logic.

The internal space between most features is 2.5mm, which can be filled by printing with two perimeters with a 0.6mm nozzle. Two perimeters make for about 1.25mm wide, so two features together fill up the space between them of 2.5mm.

I printed these with the following settings:

  • 0.6mm CHT nozzle
  • 0.4 layer height
  • 2 perimeters
  • 20% gyroid infill
  • Arachne in SuperSlicer
  • tiny bit of supports in the upper Filler mount slot. Use a Support-box for support enforcing. (see images)(these supports are really hard to remove, so be sure to check if your printer needs them, and make sure to set appropriate separation in your slicer)

If you use a 0.4mm nozzle, print with 3 perimeters. (or test with 2 perimeters to see if it's strong enough)

This is my first modeled part for 3d printing, so feedback to improve the design is very welcome!

Also, thanks to all the makers of Filler designs and wallmounts!
