The plastic grips broke both on one of the sandwich clamps of our KitchenAid Artisan toaster. So I pulled them/the rest of them off and designed and printed a new one, to not burn our fingers anymore. 😊

Printing Tips

Nothing special to follow here. I printed mine with PETG because it's a bit flexible and more heat resistant. No support is needed. Standard 0.20 layer height setting. I changed the bottom infill layer to be concentric for a nicer look. You may consider printing with a brim.

Assembling Tips

It's designed to be a (very) tight press fit, so no glue is needed, which worked in my case. I pushed it on with my hand as far as I could and then hammer the handle with the grip against a corner of a table - but be careful to do this straight, so it does not break.

Ideas when you have a fitting problem:

  • Too tight: try to heat up the metal of the clamp before pressing into the new grip
  • Too loose: try to apply some glue, like two-component epoxy stuff
  • Both: Simply scale the model up or down a bit
