I got halfway through A Link To The Past before the controller-to-hand ratio became a problem.
So… I tried them all. Every single available SNES grip model on the internet seemed to have some kind of problem that made it worse than using no grip at all. Maybe the grip is taller then the controller, or maybe it obstructs the shoulder buttons… maybe its just super uncomfortable, or maybe it seemed like it was gonna damage my 90s era first party relic controllers…
So I did what I do, and here we are. A SNES controller grip with all of the surface area my 40 year old hands could want, and none of the problems that seem to plague every other damn option on the internet.
The grip holds the controller with a slight wraparound grip at the 1200 and 1800 positions, so as to not interfere with any frantic button mashing and it leaves the shoulder buttons proud. It accepts the controller with a gentle grip on installation, this way the design is not trying to scratch the controllers when you pop it in/out, and it puts no extra strain on the controllers cable. The large voids in the rear make removing the grip simple, while the wraparound design ensured the controller wont just fall out. The skin contact edges have a slight bevel, and the grips are ergonomically designed to accept the customary pinky+ring finger grip. The wings match the slight angle of the controllers face so as to allow the most natural controller feel we can get while still having a flat surface to make this high quality single piece print-without-supports possible.
I hope you like it as much as me! Happy gaming.
Installation:
Insert the controller cable side (top) first, and press the bottom into the grip. The plastic should give slightly allowing the controller to pop into place. To remove, press on the bottom half of the controller from the voids on the rear of the grip.
I call this one the chronoTrigger Challenge, and while it's here for you to download and use gratis- It's also my first commercial 3d model. In 2017, my home was burgled, and one of the many artifacts the bandits made off with was the original ChronoTrigger cart that I had been carrying around with me since it was new. I've since replaced almost everything those savages got away with, but the price of this one game is just too damn much. I'm a blue collar working stiff and I can't just buy this game back… but if I can sell 25 of these most excellent grips, I can finally cross that one off my list.
I've designed this grip to be comfortable enough to take you and your adult sized hands all the way through New Game+, so go ahead, get those stars on all of your stats- there's a ChronoTrigger challenge here for you too!
