I remixed this from cowanrg's model on thingiverse. The old one was made for a pegboard, and I needed some way to fix it to a board of plywood.

What I changed:

  • Removed the pegboard hooks
  • added holes for standard M5 heat set inserts
  • added end caps to the model so the rods can't come loose and aren't visible

This allows me to use M5 threaded inserts (two per side) and some M5 countersunk screws to mount all this from behind the panel.

To make the measuring and drilling easier, I included a stencil for drawing out the outlines and the drill holes :)

For the final mounting procedure, I assembled the rods and the two ends together, drilled one hole and loosely screwed the whole thing on there. After that, I marked the outlines of the final positions and with the stencil marked and drilled the screw holes.

Last but not least, you need two 10 mm rods - I used stainless steel (500mm long) but I don't see why an aluminium rod or even an aluminium tube wouldn't work.
