As a lover of this “DIY Sortimo” System, I wanted to make some bins that were easy/quick to print and could function for both larger and smaller parts. These boxes improve the utility and capacity of the standard harbor freight boxes.
Flat Bases: The base of all the boxes are flat for printability. This means there aren’t any registration points to stop the bins from sliding around if you’ve removed some and start carrying the case. I consider this a feature - the top of these storage cases are quite flexible, and aren’t strong enough to hold the weight of a fully-loaded carry case, so I always store/transport horizontally. If you want boxes that support carrying by the handle, this isn’t the solution for you!
Label Flags: Most of the smaller bins all have labeling areas to write the part number or size
Chamfered bottoms: Great if your printer isn’t perfectly tuned. Elephant’s foot won’t matter to you.
Fast-Print (Large box): The large box can be printed in vase mode - if you have a .6mm or .8mm nozzle and can push to ~1.2mm thick line, you can print these extra-fast. If there’s enough interest, I have a good option for vase-moding some of the smaller bins. I haven’t needed the extra speed so far.
Half-Height - Organize lots of small, related parts
Full-Height - Gives you more room for larger items
These are made to fit the Harbor Freight 20 Bin Medium Portable Parts Storage Case - https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage-organization/parts-storage/20-bin-medium-portable-parts-storage-case-93928.html
