I have 2 old Ni MH batteries for my Dewalt DC970 drill that are on their last days and the drill is working perfectly but is at least 10 years old.

I'll buy another Dewalt when I need it but in the mean time I'm going to plug in my Bauer battery whenever I need a real solid battery.

NOTE. I have added a cutoff circuit to my tool so I won't draw the batteries below 3 volts per cell. If you run the battery down below that point you can ruin your batterie or worse.

Lipo's can catch on fire if shorted, overcharged, punctured or maybe just being looked at wrong so USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This adapter uses a Bauer Dewalt adapter I have posted that allows you to use a tool battery on another project. I mounted the adapter to a plate and post that connect to the DC970. Pictures tell the story. The battery adapter and post are designed to print vertically with no supports. I added a few tabs for the battery latch hole that need to be broken out before use. The vertical strips are .25 in brass and the adapter brass is 1/2 inch material by .032 in.

Plug the post in and see that if fits well before securing with 3mm flat head screws or just ca it to the base. If it fits well then slide a latch in place and CA them in position being careful not to glue the base to the tool.

All of the dimensions should be in the photo's. Bend the strips over to make the contact and insert them as shown so they position correctly. The slits may need a little work to accept the brass depending on your printing accuracy. The inside of the post has a divider so the strips cannot short out.

I hope this is useful for someone or at least gives you a idea for your own project.
