Description

PDF

This is a socket for SK6812 Mini-E RGB LEDs which come in a tiny SMD package. In contrast to the SK6812 (socket can also be found on printables) it is much easier to solder. This socket helps soldering wires to it, provides strain relief and provides a larger surface for mounting the LED (e.g. with glue or tape).

Assembly

  1. Push SK6812 Mini-E with facing upwards into socket (LED will be held in place by two tiny snaps)
  2. Insert wires into the 4 holdes (e.g. clipped off diode legs)
  3. Solder wires to pads

Print settings (0.4mm Nozzle):

  • Speed: 5mm/s
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • Filament: PLA (I used transparent but any color should do since there is a cutout in the bottom for the light)

I used active cooling with min speed of 5mm/s, so movements were at normal speeds. Total print duration is 3 minutes on my Ender 3.
