Filming some tall timelapses, the need came for a taller tripod. Sure, you could just buy a different one... but why do that when you have a 3D Printer? I printed 2, 3, and 4 inch extensions for my existing GoPro Shorty tripod and the magnetic clamp. I couldn't be happier, worked like a charm! Add these to the bag of tricks!
These extensions have a cool see through text logo on them to show that it's "Prime Time".
So far I've successfully used them with the shorty tripod from GoPro and the magnetic clip mount. I'm positive they'll work with any other mount the GoPro fits too.
The Hex Nut is a M5x0.8, this threads right onto the GoPro's thumbscrew and a light press into the hex shaped cavity of the extension head.
The Dustcap wasn't a requirement and was painstaking to get the fits correct, but it snaps in and can be removed as long as you don't mind reprinting an extra one or two (about half the time an ear would break off in the hole while removing). My honest opinion, the dustcap gives it style and a hip color offset.
Enjoy, I hope it works in your bag of tricks as well.
