I love my Prusa Enclosure, but my biggest gripe is that the front doors are permanently attached to the enclosure.  Especially when doing upgrades, I find myself doing acrobatics to reach through the opening and around the side (running, wires, putting the PSU back, etc).

I designed a set of lift-off hinges that replace the provided ones in the kit.  To remove the door, simply lift the door up off the hinge while in the open position.  To replace the door, just slide the hinge back over the pin.  They are lock kit compatible, so they are not removable in the closed position.

Printing instructions

I printed at .20 QUALITY to avoid overhang issues on the rounded pieces - took about 30 minutes per piece with Prusament Black PETG and came out great.

  • 2x Enclosure Hinge (L)
  • 2x Enclosure Hinge (R)
  • 4x Door Hinge
    • I painted on supports in the nut holes just for a cleaner print.  Technically not necessary

You will also need

  • 8x 3x20mm dowel pin - your enclosure kit should have supplied 4 extra.  You can pillage the ones off your existing hinges, or get more from somewhere like https://www.mcmaster.com/93600A376/
  • 16x M3n nut - these are abundant in your Prusa extras drawer.  Or again, you can pillage from your existing hinges
  • 8x M3x8 screw - the same ones for your existing hinges.

Assembly

  1. Sink the M3n nuts into all of the hex-shaped holes in the printed pieces - 2 nuts per piece
  2. Insert the dowel pins into the enclosure hinges per the photos.  They are intentionally snug - I used my Knipex pliers to sink them in
  3. Slide the door hinges over the top and fold over
  4. Continue assembly per the Prusa instructions
