There are many blasters that use 60mm spaced Fidlock connectors for holster mounting (The Quik, Meowser, and Pewpew, to name a few), but there are no free or open source holsters. This is the first!
The Sholster uses two Fidlock Snap size M connectors to secure your 3D printed nerf blaster of choice to your hip. The angle of the connectors is adjustable to allow for a more comfortable draw.
Both the STEP and original F3D files are supplied, modify them however you like but please share your changes for the rest of the community!
The BOM is:
- About two yards of 1" nylon strap, available at many Ace hardware stores or other fabric stores
- Optionally, you may want to use stretchy strapping. I recommend only doing the top leg strap in this, as the bottom one should be solid so the holster can't ride up when you draw. You may also only want to use it for the half of the strap that's on your front, so you still get adjustment as the stretchy strap tends to slip in the buckle and will need to be sewn down. I recommend the strap with silicone backing for this.
- Maybe get some extra strap if this is your first time working with something like this
- Two 1" buckles for the leg straps
- I used the type with the adjustment cinch built in
- Two Fidlock SNAP female plates, size Medium, available from OutOfDarts
- Two Fidlock SNAP male bolts, size Medium, available from OutOfDarts
- Sewing supplies and the ability to do some simple sewing
- I built mine with a simple hand-sewn backstitch and some heavier thread, nothing fancy required
Assembly is fairly straightforward, though a bit time consuming.
- Loop the strap through the top loop and around your belt. Get it to a spot you like, then safety pin the strap in place and cut off the excess, leaving enough overlap to have material to sew to.
- Loop the strap through one side of the bottom leg strap hole, pin it in place, and thread it around your leg and through the other hole. Give yourself some extra slack, then pin it in place and cut off the excess.
- Repeat for the top strap. If you're using stretchy strap for part of this, you'll be adding that later.
- Decide where on your leg you want the buckle to be (I like the back), and cut the straps there.
- On both sides of the buckle, feed the strap through the cinch and double the strap back on itself twice before pinning this doubled back strap together. Don't pin it to the rest of the strap, you should have one end of the strap loose with a folded over end that you can pull through the cinch to adjust it.
- If you're using a stretchy strap, feed it through the side of the buckle that's going to your front side and pin it to itself. You won't be able to adjust this side. You may also want to adjust the tension in the strap before pinning it down so that it hugs your body how you like.
- Move around a bit with the holster on, make sure everything fits nicely before you sew.
- Replace your pins with stitching
- Install the female plate to the flat side of the holster (The bottom of the print), lining the locating pin up with whatever angle you want. Screw the nut on the back, using a small screwdriver or other tool to rotate it if need be.
- Install the male bolts on your blaster
- Adjust the straps to your liking!
Currently, there are no authorized dealers of this holster. If you see someone, please let me know! I can be found @Shadic_#0108 on discord(dot)gg(slash)nothing
