V-Minion Z Axis Belt System

V4 Update (25/12/2023)

1. Added proper belt tensioning (Inside the belt clip). 
2. Improved printability belt clip part. 
3. Optimized a bit position of pulleys on top block.
4. Added bearing collar to improve lateral movement of bottom pulley. 
5. Removed mismatched M5 screw in bottom pulley.

This is my take on a Belt System for the V-Minion Z Axis.
I have it mounted, printed in ABS, on my V-Minion for about 3-4 months and around 200h of printing with good results. 

Everything is printed without support. I used fillamentum ABS at 4 walls, 4 bottom, 5 top and 25% infill.

The belt clip is available in 2 different parts. One is two pieces that will join. The other is a single piece with built-in support that needs to be broken.

To tighten the belt you press down the bottom piece and tighten the screws that mounts it to the extrusion (A bit barbaric but works ok). The same goes for the motor belt loop.

I am using a NEMA17 48mm stepper for the X axis and since it is heavier i use a 1000g counterweight. It is possible that for smaller motor (Less weight) a 800g is enough, i have not tested.

The final gear ratio is 4:1 with the 20T motor pulley. You can you a 16T motor pulley to reach a 5:1.

The project also includes the remixed parts for the X axis end cap (With the conterweight mount) and the cable guide (Shortened to allow the belt clip to exists).

The .step is a bit rough. Missing all the fasteners and the belt loop for the Motor (Still need to do some work).

Total cost is around 30-40€.
