Uploaded 3MF this time, no STL, STL export on F360 is annoying me. Trying to make modifications to the model to prevent the iron from moving left and right when under the weight of the USB cable. Not happy enough with it now to call it Beta.
Want to use the Hakko 633 stand with a Pinecil? The stand is designed for a much larger iron so the fit is pretty loose, but it's one of the nicest stands that is heavy and integrated with a nice cleaning pot. Affordable at ~20USD too. As you can see in the pictures, you can non-destructively disassemble the collar which holds the iron. This adapter part replaces that part and provides a much better fit for the Pinecil.
The way I printed it, large diameter end on the bed:
My advice is…
Higher temp filaments better, but even PLA is fine, you might just have to replace it more often. No filament likes the temp of a soldering iron anyways. Layer heights shouldn't have a significant functional effect, so pick any. If you want it more durable, increase the number of perimeters.
I designed it with ABS/ASA in mind, so you might print at 100.5% for less shrinky filaments (PLA, PETG).
The original 633 has the black collar held in with a spring clip. Use a small screwdriver or similar to release it, no need to permanently bend anything. You'll then have the three pieces as you see in one of the pictures.
Drop in the printed insert in and replace the to steel pieces as they were before. Things to pay attention to:
Alpha seems to work pretty well if you push the iron all the way forward. But if you are haphazard and don't push it all the way in, there is a possibility that it will touch plastic and melt things.
For beta…refine the opening to provide the biggest entryway while still being secure.
For release…improve the looks a little bit.
After release…add a holder somewhere to hold the original iron receiver so you don't lose it.
