YET ANOTHER FILAMENT SPOOL YAY!! i bought a few 1gm spools that included 4 different colors of filament, each individually wrapped and taped around 1 spool, so a bit more than typical filament samples. most of the sample filament spools that i found here would not hold as much as i needed. most of them started the spool way far out in the diameter of the spool's sides when it could just be brought in tighter to allow for more filament to be loaded. plus, i had never designed anything with threads yet, so a nice opportunity to learn. i also learned about using modifiers in Prusaslicer.

there's a standard threaded “top” piece and then various heights of “base” pieces with corresponding female threads to then screw together to store varying amounts of filament. i originally made the 55mm base, but it ended up being far too large for the roughly 250gm of filament. ended up that the 20mm base is just perfect. also including a 30mm base. all bases also include small hole for securing filament end into spool to begin winding.

used 10% honeycomb fill and used the modifier shape on both top and base to eliminate the top and bottom layer, thus creating the honeycomb sections and using less filament overall. printed with Prusament recycled PLA which seems to be sturdy enough for these smaller amounts of filament.
