Great Idea. Had adhesion issues with the bearing holder on the first shot, but it printed out perfectly once I added a brim and support. I also added some text so I remember what I printed it for down the road.

I printed 8 of these and they all failed. I am not sure why. It said no supports but I think I am going to have to use them. It's a great idea and I hope I can get them to print.

@TerryTang_510217 I would suggest maybe adding a brim around the base to keep it better adhered to the print bed.

Printed with Elegoo PLA+ Black.

Any way to keep the spool from moving side to side with this? Love it otherwise!

@RohanDeraniy_1778042 I haven't found anything to keep them from moving side to side but I add a weight on the inside to keep it a bit more stabilized.

This is probably a silly question, but how do you remove the spool roller from the AMS? I pulled a bit on it, but it seemed stuck in place and I didn't want to use too much force.

@BilliePalmer_544273 Haha! Ok thanks for the reassurance (and I won't pry). I printed the 500g but realized I actually need the 250g. Do you know if the 250g also works with 200g? Specifically Amolen Dual Silk color? Regardless, thanks for the help and I'll be trying this once the 250g finishes printing.

@CthulhuPhD_1804403 I'm not sure about the specific brand. I know that the lighter the spool the more likely it will catch and jump. I've found putting a weight inside the spools middle helps a lot.

Printed perfect on the ender 3 pro. Made with Sunlu matte PLA. Nozzle 210 and bed of 60. Tested with a 500g spool and it's flawless. Thank you! (edited)

Fantastic engineering solution! Works perfectly with Mika3D 250g spools

A clever little print, but didn't work for my Sunlu 250g spools. They are just narrow enough they can move slightly side to side, fall off the AMS front rollers, and get stuck. I'm almost wondering if I could use o-rings on the rear roller to help keep the spool centered, but it would have to be near perfect as there is little room for error on these spools.

I was very hopeful and the print failed several times I added little disks around the 2 thin legs and it printed. Problem is my 250g spools keep getting lifted as it's trying to pull filament in. This happens with my mostly empty spools too bit the lid is able to hold them down. So it didn't work for me :(
