A table centerpiece for a celebration event at one of my wife's organizations.  For the life of me, I can't remember what they were celebrating.  I just remember they were all about smiles and trains.  So, I thought, “hey, this could be fun”.  I know that I printed and assembled 14 of these. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of them and they were given away afterwards.

The train ends up being around 9 inches long by 7 inches tall.  You print out each of the parts and then glue them together.  Don't put glue on the bushings as they need to move freely. Also, don't glue the axels to the carriage.

You will need to orient the different parts for best printing results.  I also printed using just 3 walls, tops, and bottoms, with lightning infill.

  • Boiler - face down, no supports
  • Smoke Stack - upside down, no supports
  • Axel - print on the end, no supports
  •

It's worth noting that the “track” is strictly to enhance the fun decoration.

The colors shown in the renders are the colors that I used.
