My mother-in-law likes to hang small articles of clothing on the shower rod, when traveling. Her little, 4-for-a-dollar spring-loaded hangers all broke, so I designed one that I hope will not break and will grip clothing just enough but not too tightly.
This design needs no supports and can be printed in draft 0.3mm mode in 90 minutes. At 20% fill, it is nice and light, does not take up too much space in a travel bag, and seems to work pretty well, so far. You don't want it so tight that it rips a dainty hose, but not too loose either.
3-D printed PLA is superb for simple applications that don't rely too much on rigidity; PLA does bend over time, as I discovered to my sadness after installing a wall shelf supported by PLA, now gradually angling downward. This hook is, I believe, an example of what PLA does best: simple, unlikely to test its limits, and thick enough that if it does warp over time, its functionality will not be compromised.
Probably you don't want to hang delicate crystalware using this thing, but for socks and under-shirts, it's going to be just fine as long as it doesn't get hit by steamy hot shower spray.
17-Jan-23: edited the file slightly to flatten the edges and make the print cleaner.
