I do some on-the-side python development at work and thought it would be fun to print a 3d python logo as a desk ornament. I started out using another project I found here on Thingiverse, but my printer wasn't printing the pin assembly correctly, so I decided to do my own remix and share it.

The STLs are a little large. If printed at 100% the logo turns out to be about 150 mm x 150 mm x 20 mm and quite grand! The pictures were taken of a 50% print of the original STLs and turned out to be around 70 mm x 70 mm x 10 mm. (print time 30 min for each half 4 min for connector)

I do not make any rights or ownership claims to this logo or python. I have used the logo SVG from the python group to make this thingi and to promote the language and programming community. Enjoy and print responsibly!

Instructions

  1. Print the top in blue filament
  2. Print the bottom in yellow filament
  3. Print the connector in black, white, whatever color you want
  4. Push connector into bottom part
  5. Push top into bottom assembly
  6. Add glue or sand edges to get the desired fit

NOTE: While the yellow and blue pieces might look similar, maybe even identical, they are not. For best results, print one top and one bottom.

I printed top and bottom at 50% and connector at 49% and the fit is just about perfect. Depending on your printer and tolerances your mileage may vary. But a little touch-up with some sandpaper or glue and everything should fit like a glove!
