The Sonoff SNZB-02 sensor is a simple and cheap ZigBee temperature and humidity sensor. The default mounting option is using a sticker to attach it to the wall. However, walls tend to be colder than the room they are in due to thermal transfers.
This model allows the sensor to stand up without risk of falling over and be allows it to be used anywhere in the room. The sensor itself is slightly asymmetrical in design and the model uses this to its advantage. There is a small clip in the model on one side to keep the model in place when inserted one way. If you pick up the sensor you also pick up the stand. Or if you rotate the model 180 degrees you can freely remove the sensor from the stand without any effort. An opening at the bottom of the model allows easy access to the one button on the sensor regardless of whether you lock the sensor into the stand or not.
If you want to go the extra length you can flash an improved firmware on these sensors: https://github.com/smartboxchannel/SONOFF-SNZB-02-Temperature-and-humidity-sensor . This is mainly useful to improve the reporting delay.
The stand makes the sensor easier to use (place it anywhere!) and more accurate, turning it into a reliable and still cheap sensor for automation.
