Description

PDF

This screw tray is made of two halves. The bottom half has 6 magnetic slots. The top half also has 6 slots, but they are not magnetic. Both halves are held together by magnets and are keyed. I have included the STEP if you would like to remix this.

Printing and Assembly

Non-printed parts

8x Neodymium magnets (6 mm diameter by 2 mm height) Link

9x Ferrite magnets (20 mm square by 2 mm height) Link

Method 1

  1. Print Base.stl, Walls.stl, and Lid.stl
  2. Place the 9 Ferrite magnets in the 6 slots in the base. One slot holds 4. (Picture 5)
  3. Place a small drop of glue in the 4 slots on the bottom of the Walls model
  4. Then drop 1 Neodymium magnet in those slots (Picture 6)
  5. Then glue the Base to the Walls
    1. Check that the 4 pegs on the Base fit in the magnet holes of the Walls
  6. Place the remaining 4 Neodymium magnets on top of the Walls (Picture 7). They should stick to the magnets underneath
  7. Next place a drop of glue in the 4 magnet holes on the Lid.
    1. Don't add too much or the Lid will get stuck to the Walls when drying
  8. Align the Lid so that the groves are aligned with the ridges on the Walls
  9. Press the two halves together and let dry
    1. If the magnets don't go in all the way, you may have to just drop them in the holes in the Lid model. Just be certain of the polarity or the two halve will not go together.

Method 2

Warning: Don't try with a Steel Nozzles

Print bottom.3mf instead of Base.stl and Walls.stl

Use Pause points to pause the print, so you can add the magnets in. You will have to pause two times. Once for the Ferrite magnets and once for the Neodymium magnets.

Then print Lid.stl and follow method 1 starting at step 7
