This is what I call a Storing Maching, it's a robotic spool tower, which has a mecanism in it that open and closes the drawers via the rotation of a nema 17

Purpose:

Pressing a button help you select one of the 4 drawer, the whole tower rotates to always open the drawer facing towards you or on the side, but never in the back

Each spool level is shifted by 90 degree to prevent two drawers to open one above the other

The goal is to re-use a maximum of empty prusament spool

Print instructions

It can be printed with any type of material of your choice.

  • M4x30 x2
  • M4 nuts x8

  • Leg x4
  • Base x1
  • Socle x1
  • Guide Socle x1
  • Hexagon Key x2
  • Nema Gear x1
  • Spacer 12 mm x4
  • Main Axel Top x1
  • Main Axel Bottom x1
  • PushPull Cam x1
  • Drawer Slot x4
  • Cam Drawer x4
  • Coupling Model x1
  • Entire Prusament Spool x1

Electronic Parts:

  • Nema 17 x1
  • Driver A4988 x1
  • Arduino Uno (or any type of microcontroller that you want) x1
  • Digital hall sensor x1
  • 12v power supply x1

Only if you’ve already built the machine
Printed Parts +1 level: Parts required to add one level

  • Guide Socle x1
  • Hexagon Key x2
  • Main Axel Top x1
  • Main Axel Bottom x1
  • PushPull Cam x1
  • Drawer Slot x4
  • Cam Drawer x4
  • Entire Prusament Spool x1
  • M4x30 x2

Assembly:

  1. Take the four legs
    M4x20 x8; M4 nuts x8 and insert them like in the following pictures
  2. Take the base
  3. Attach the motor
  4. Install the nema gear
  5. Hexagon key coupling system on Socle
  6. Socle onto the base
  7. Glue Socle guide to first half of Prusament spool
  8. Bottom Half of the spool onto the Socle
  9. Insert Cam mechanism lock it in place
  10. Cut the centre cardboard with the Coupling Guide or install the coupling part
  11. Cut the 2nd Half of the Prusament Spool matching the cut of the cardboard and Coupling Guide
  12. Install all on the machine
  13. Manual spinning to check if everything is done properly and doesn’t block anywhere
