I used the model with supports. Great work and easy to print. It just works as excpected.
Thank you!

Printen in prusament petg prusa-Orange. The Arms have some play to them but i think that is because of the Material. Since i want to dry the samples on this spool pla was a no-Go.
Great design, handy if you order Amazon Basics filament samples :)
However, it could have been a bit tighter.
I found these a bit too difficult to get the sample coils onto, they just don't get over the forks easily and IMO it reduces the functionality essentially to zero to have to respool or unspool to get them on. If you have similar problems with yours, I'd recommend looking for a sample spool holder that splits in the middle.
Nice idea and model though!
Nice @dmacnulty , I actually made a very similar remix of the idea you executed https://www.printables.com/model/467271-sample-coil-master-spool-magnetic
@sulli18 the interlocking spheres are a great solution to the alignment issue! You should link to the magnets you used in your post
Great little print for tangle-free use of sample filaments. Printed in PETG with 0.3mm draft and still came off the bed with all moving parts free (edited)
Printed with supports. Works well. For me I wish the gear/arm was a bit tighter and stronger, but it works perfectly fine.
Sample spools are sometimes a bit narrower and sometimes a bit wider. This spool holder adapts easily. On my printer it's also a bit loose though and collapses easily. For me, the original version by @SubSite ( https://bit.ly/3UfBxHg) collapses less easily.
Nevertheless a great design!
