I like my Powerbuilt T Handle Metric Hex Key Set (10 keys) but I really don't like the rack that it holsters to. It's made of cheap metal and is very irritating when the key scrapes against the metal edges. Plus the text is not readily visible and not that easy to reach on my desk. I wanted a more pleasant experience when reaching for these tools so I designed my own more ergonomic rack.
Features:
Because my Hex Key rack is now made of plastic, I eliminated the irritating scraping sound and is much easier to reach. This rack should be able to fit other brands of hex keys but I don't have any to test out at the moment.
I got my Powerbuilt Metric Hex Key set here (please note - affiliate link):
Here's the spacing between the key handles to clear each other. Each dimension represents the width of each handle (with a 1mm clearance.) If yours stay inside these dimensions then it can work for yours as well.
Tip: Since it's on the larger size, I strongly recommend at least a 4mm brim to prevent the corners from lifting off the bed.
So far, I've only designed this rack to fit Metric Hex Keys, but if you'd like to see an Imperial/English version as well, please let me know (DM me) and I'll work on it. Since I don't have an imperial hex key set, I'll need some dimensions from someone to make sure the design works as expected.
