I love designing things that can be represented by symmetrical halves. You print two copies of the exact same design and then lock them together to make the whole. This design was created to wrap around a particular power extension cord that my sister was using as her RV electricity supply. The small length of cord hangs behind her rear bumper. I designed gaps in the sides of the block to hold strong magnets harvested from old hard drives. The thin walls at this location ensure that the magnets can hold the cord head securely to the steel on the underside of her van. Then when she needs it, she reaches under and grabs it. When it's time to roll, she just lifts it back toward the underside of her van and lets the steel grab it. The two halves of the block are wrapped around the head of an extension cord that we bought at a local home improvement store. It has large teeth that match the detentes in the cord head, and thin stainless bolts are used to hold the two halves securely around the cord head. Printing it in red reminds her to tuck it away before she leaves a place.
