I could not find a suitable retainer box that did not also require magnets or screws to assemble, so I designed a box that works without any additional materials.

Can be clipped shut, and opened by applying a slight pressure to the front of the box and opening the lid. Has drainage holes / vents on the bottom.

To print:

  • For both:
    • 20% infill
    • PLA
    • 0.4mm nozzle
  • The box: flat side down, at 0.2mm layer height
  • The lid: flat side down, at 0.12mm layer height, with “supports on base plate only” just to keep hinge joint as spherical as possible
    • It should be possible to print at 0.2mm, however the sloped inner walls might be a bit more noticable
    • It should also be possible to print without supports, but it only needs about 0.03g of support, so I used them to be safe

To assemble:

  • connect the clip on the lid to one side of the box hinge
  • carefully pull the other side of the lid hinge around and click it into place - it should have enough clearance to pull it on with just a bit of force

Specs:

  • 80mm wide
  • 67mm deep
  • 39mm tall (lowest height 35mm, as it's slightly higher on the front)

Printed in Prusament Galaxy Black PLA.
