Needed a simple finger knob for a ¼-20 bolt and it grew…  Decided to  do a customizable design,  where I can basically do Any textured nut or knob, in any thread(or without threads) I need in the future without having to model anything, just click, adjust, print and go.

Not exactly my modeling, more of just my assembly and parametric coding, this Relies Heavily on the BOSL2 Oscad library for both the threads,  and textures.

Presets for most common metric and SAE threads and clearance size for holes and nuts are included in the menu, and any others from BOSL2 are available.

You can adjust;

Texture pattern used

Also included 12 of the textures that I liked the most.

height, diameter,

thread size, round hole or space for a hex nut, or any combo of the 2

Hole or nut depth.; through hole or blind.

Threaded or clearance hole.

 Extra clearance modifier.

Chamfer amounts top and bottom, and diameter offset.

Pattern texture size/sale too!

Here in the STLs I've included several variations that I had done for me, for ¼-20 hardware, and 1 in each included thread standard, of a checkered 10mmx15mm(M8, M10 are each and added 2mm in diameter!) Universal Cap Knob. The UCK is a through clearance round hole AND a 6mm deep hex nut hole. Can be used with a bolt through it, or a nut inserted into it, to cover both needs.

I don't have time to render Every variation, and no idea what to pick for further universal  varients of size and thread… But anyone without the means to run OpenScad, and you want a couple variations, let me know, I'll try to run off STLs and add them here.. :-)

As time permits, I'll try to add more anyway.

I'm printing these as is, no brim, in PLA or PETG, at 0.2 to 0.25 layers, they all come out at a fine resolution for the threads. Fit, at least in the ¼-20 stuff(no other hardware on hand to test the rest) is perfect, about identical to hardware store nuts and bolts, maybe a tad tighter but in no way “tight”. In the customizer, you can of course adjust that. :-)
