A convenient receptacle capable of trapping and containing pesky purge lines, skirts, ooze or other printing scrap.

If you have been printing for a while, you know that those scraps--especially skirt loops--hate to be contained in small containers and love to spring out whenever they can. I designed a bin lid with a sloping chute that is easy to drop scrap in but more importantly has a large cavity to trap long scraps that try to jump back out.

Just use your fingers to push them down into the hole and outward to container walls so the scraps are trapped in the lid's cavity.

Print in original orientation without supports. Ignore warnings about supports--trust your printer! Recommend to randomize your seam settings (if you don't know what this means, don't worry about it).

Update 21 Mar 2023:

  • Version 2 now has detents added to help the top stay on a little better. You squeeze the Bottom part and the Top should release easily.
  • Also added Taller Bottom which is about twice as tall for those who want it. I think the center of gravity is a little high for my taste but let do let everyone know in the comments are on the stability if you do indeed make a Taller Bottom.
