I saw a youtube short where a guy is using glass containers as a pre measured canister for coffee beans. Got me thinking of designing and printing one for myself
Note: Please use Food Safe filaments if you are planning to use the containers for a long time storing food
For my print, I used ABS because its the only filament i have on hand, and im planning to get PETG in the future to reprint this.
All parts were printed with .28 to .30 layer height (with .40 nozzle)
Included are 3 styles of canister body according to your preference and amount of coffee beans it can store:
“Spiralized” - its a solid body canister for the vase mode style of printing, Wall thickness is determined according to your layer height (and nozzle used) - from my print, I was able to comfortable store roughly 21 grams of coffee beans
1mm - body is printed with 1mm shell and is able to store roughly 19 grams of coffee beans
2mm - body is printed with 2mm shell with a side addition of an extended bottom part and is able to store roughly 16 grams of coffee beans
All canister body can fit the Canister Base but it will depend on your print quality and elephant's foot mitigation settings for it to fit snugly or loosely. Mine had build plate adhesion issue so some areas are raised which prevents me to have a snug fit.
the cap might need a bit of post processing to fit, depending on your print's quality but mine was able to “pop” when opening the container giving it a semi air tight /water tight capability (tho we all know all printed objects are not 100% air and water proof)
