Description: I recently remixed the original Cubistand (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1294085/files) and wanted a version that was suitable for pens and pencils, the original was too tight and meant for paintbrushes. Inheriting some of the original constraints, this is a ground up rebuild in Fusion 360.
Model has a Gridfinity compliant base with magnets, should be great for those building Gridfinity workspaces and those that haven't made the plunge yet.
Print Orientation/Settings: See cross section image for a FDM printing benefit of hollow cavities to limit printing needs and hopefully speeding up your prints. Print orientation is important for these models. Only post processing should involving super glue parts after the fact.
Consider adding bed adhesion like a brim or skirt if you have bed adhesion issues when printing the cylindrical pieces.
Assembly: from top to bottom it is Cap > Top > Post (flat cavity up) > Bottom post insert > Base
Much like the original model that inspired this build, you can print 1 arm, put it on the outside, put one in the center, or put one in any number of corners - modularity. For those not confident in their 3D printing configuration and the strength of their models, I would recommend no fewer than 2 connecting arms.
