This is a scan of my hand holding glasses. The socket deliberately is a bit out of centre so that eye glasses placed between thumb and index finger won't push the center of gravity out of the sculpture's footprint.
I printed the model in ABS with only some support for the ring and little finger. With a 0.6 mm nozzle and 0.32 mm layer hight, the hand prints in about 3 hours. However, its a very simple model and I think any material and setting should produce a nice result.
Update: I have added a slighly edited version of the hand. I sacrificed a small part of my index finger to increase the tipping area between index finger and thumb. This should help larger glasses to rest securely in place.
I decided to paint the hand in bronze while keeping the socket black (actually I painted it metalic black, but the effect was negligible). I have not sanded the hand and only did one layer of bronze spray to create a shaby old look.
