I was scrolling Printables the other day and realized something… There's a serious lack of options when it comes to filament clips! I decided I should do my part in helping solve this crippling issue by making a contribution in the form of this Filament T-Clip. Fear not! For you can all sleep just a little more soundly tonight, knowing there's one more filament clip out there to choose from! (Sarcasm, of course.)
On a more serious note, these mini S-clips have been my go-to filament clip for several months now. I like that they're compact and don't interfere with the edge of the spool, but after using them for some time, there are two issues I've come across that I set out to improve upon with this T-clip.
The first issue is after I snap the clip onto the filament, I tighten the loose end of the filament to the rest of the spool by sliding the clip toward the filament end, but often times the filament will pop out of the down-facing side of the S-clip during this process. The second issue is I often times have trouble getting a good grip on the S-clip with my thumb to get it to slide along the filament as I'm pushing it toward the end of the filament to tighten everything down.
The T-clip design prevents the filament from popping out of the clip when sliding/tightening because the filament is inserted from the side, instead of from the top and bottom. The T-clip design also provides a better surface to push against to get the clip to slide along the filament for tightening everything up and keeping the spool neat and tidy.
TLDR: Another filament clip to add to the masses which suits my needs and may or may not suit yours.
There are two versions of the clip, a standard version and a short version. For me, the short version works best on new/full spools.
The clips will be a little difficult to clip onto the filament and slide along the filament for the first few uses, but they will wear in and work nicely after the initial break-in period.
