This is another free 3D model made available for you. I love sharing my models, but designing, testing, polishing, uploading and maintaining them is a lot of work. In case you enjoy this model, please leave a small Donation or Buy me a Coffee. Thank you!
This is a detailed Airstream Bambi 16 RB (rear bed) model. Sizes are retrieved from plans and some support by a dealer.
While the model is coming with original lengths (1:1), it is supposed to be scaled to 5.55% which matches a 1:18 scale. See the photo for a 1:18 print. Bigger prints are no problem, smaller may run into issues when printed with a standard 0.4mm nozzle.
There are sets of black, silver, red, orange, white model accessories to be printed with a single color printer. This parts (like lights or wheels) will be glued to the main body. Prusa Slicer project files are provided for these.
The body itself is designed as a four color print made up from silver, white, red and black. It has been printed with a Prusa MK3 and the MMU2 successfully. A Prusa Slicer MMU project is provided for this print too.
As an alternative, a unicolor body is provided. This can be printed using single color printers but needs to be painted to look good.
Finally, one can use the multi color parts and print them individually. NB: as the parts are designed for a multi color print, there are no gaps modeled that allow an easy assembly. So when going this path, you will need to grind parts a bit.
Designed to be printed scaled by 5.55% (1:18) using a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layers. The build plate needs to be at least 25 x 20cm (like the Prusa MK3).
As an alternative, variable / adaptive layer heights can be used to get better roundings.
The only part requiring some support is the body. All others are super easy to print. The critical part for the body is the rounded roof that will no be sliced using bridging. Instead, there will be a overhang of up to 90 degree making some perimeters fall down. I have printed this part without support nevertheless and it worked out fine as later layers closed the openings from falling perimeters. The alternative is to add a support block slightly bigger than the white roof part. This is making this a safe print but requires a lot more printing time.
Recommended filament is PLA like for most non-functional models. When selecting silver, use the brightest you can find. Light gray is an alternative.
I have used two M3 screws to attach the wheels. They are added from the inside. For the hitch, I have used a M3 thread for the vertical up/down rod and a small nail to make an axle for the wheel.
