A manual bottle cutter made from a few 3D printer pieces. Cuts a 6.5+/- strip of plastic to feed into a PET filament recycler, like The Recreator 3d or PETbot.
I like the community cutter with bearing, but I have no way of grind them down. Several other bottle cutters look a little more dangerous than this one. The retractable knife can be found at most hardware store. The blade is tucked inside the plastic housing to reduce injury. Use at your own risk.
Grab an old stepper motor and linear rod, they just to help keep the bottle straight. Feed the bottle and twist. With a little practice it will make a heap of plastic.
Two sizes. Small for 20oz bottles. Large for 2 litters.
Use safety gloves and glasses.
Updated: 07JAN2023 - It is pretty amazing how quickly PET can cut through PLA+. I redesigned the part to hold two dimes underneath to help make the part last longer. After printing the new piece, you can bend it in half to secure the dimes. (If it snaps, that's ok too. The two piece are secured by 3x16mm screws.)
