It's been exactly 5 months since I published my first 3D print design. Back in August, I uploaded my design for a fully 3D printed Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I had been working on that design on and off for about 2 years, so if 5 months felt like a long time to wait for an accompanying scabbard design, just know it could've been worse.
My Master Sword scabbard design is finally complete! This scabbard was designed specifically to fit my Master Sword design, and mine alone, so please don't assume that it will fit your sword if you've printed one designed by someone else. However, if you have printed my Master Sword, this scabbard will be a perfect fit. Not enough room for your sword to rattle around, but just enough space to line your scabbard with a thin fabric if needed. I know some people have gone all out, finishing their Master Swords with immaculate paint jobs and professional level weathering. Lining your scabbard with fabric will protect your sword from any unwanted wear and tear. That being said, this is an entirely unnecessary step, especially for those that don't mind a bit of battle damage!
One of the qualities of my Master Sword design I was most proud of was the lack of need for support material. As much as I'd hoped for my scabbard design to share this quality, it proved too difficult too achieve. Apologies in advance, but this model will require support material. Specifically, the gold pieces print on a bed of support material. The leather sections, however, require no support material.
PRINTING/ASSEMBLY TIPS:
I think that more or less covers things. Thank you to anyone and everyone that has printed my Master Sword design so far. The response has been fantastic, and I'm so happy to be publishing my accompanying scabbard design. Make sure you follow me for more Zelda and non-Zelda 3D-Printing projects, including a wall mount for the Master Sword and Scabbard.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
