All you need (besides your printer) is:

  1. BB's (this package cost $0.99 at Walmart)
  2. Superglue

The .stl attached is for the small 6000 size bearing(10mmx26mmx8mm), but if you edit the .f3d file sketches(very easy) you can make any size you want!

This is fully parametric in Fusion360. I have included the f3d file for anyone to edit. I am excited to see what this gets integrated into. I have used it on a project and it turned out very well.

I think the pictures show pretty clearly how this works. Very easy, this file will print 3 rings.

  • Place the big ring down and one of the small rings in the middle with the widest part down.
  • Fill with as many BB's as your heart desires. I do as many as possible personally:).
  • Put a bit of superglue on the inside of the remaining ring and snap the middle rings together.
  • Be careful and avoid using too much superglue because you don't want it to squish out onto your ball bearings or your fingies.

Printing tips:

My BB's package say they are .177 in (4.5 mm). My calipers say they are all around .171 -.172.

I printed my first one with the ball size at .177 but it was tight. It spun, but it was tight. I'm sure this number will be quite different for different people and printers. What ended up working perfectly for me is .185 for the ball size(easily edited in fusion 360).

I initially thought random seam placement would be better, but for me it ended up significantly worse that having a single lined up seam. I suppose all those distributed seam bumps is?are? like having sand in the bearing. That's how it felt. Even with the lined up seam its surprisingly smooth.

These tests were all printed using white polymaker PLA. Default temps.

.4mm layer height. Very standard settings.

Good luck and I really hope to see people integrate these into other builds, be sure to send me a picture if you do!

Don't feel obligated at all but if you gained some value and you'd like to send me a few bucks for a coffee or something that would be much appreciated. Link is in my profile.
