I re-designed Pawpawpaw85's strain relief to have a lower profile so there is zero chance of nozzle coolers interfering at maximum Y-extension when using PEI/Buildtak adhered directly to the heatbed.

This design has an elongated nut-trap so it will fit the Duplicator v1 with bolt hole ~3mm from the edge as well as the v2 and newer models (Monoprice/Cocoon, etc.) with a bolt hole hidden under the PEI/BuildTak located ~6mm from the edge.

Necessary materials:

  • 1 M3x10mm or M3x12mm bolt (button head preferred)

  • 1 M3 nut (nyloc preferred)

  • 2 zip ties

  • 1 piece of scotch tape (to hold nut in place during install if the nut trap isn't tight enough)
    Install:

  • unplug your printer from AC/mains power

  • reveal the bolt hole near the heatbed wires

    • If your printer came with a build surface adhered to the heatbed, you may need to feel around for it and punch through with a hex key.

      • If needed, carefully trim the bits of build surface around the hole with a knife or side cutters. Do not pull or peel off the build layer bits.

  • install the m3 nut in the nut-trap and secure in place with a piece of tape

  • place strain-relief part with nut under the heat bed so it aligns with the bolt hole

  • drop the bolt into the hole and engage the threads

  • keep the strain-relief part snug against the edge of the build plate and tighten the bolt

  • route the wires under the strain-relief part and secure with zip ties

  • manually test the Y axis by moving the build plate all the way to the front and all the way to the back. Adjust zip-ties as needed.

  • plug in AC/mains power and ensure the heatbed is working

  • run Z-calibration
