This is a case for the Contra 40% mechanical keyboard (https://cartel.ltd/projects/contra/), but can be used for handwiring as well, because the plate is pretty thick. The Contra PCB requires sanding to fit into the case.

Process for building the keyboard:

  1. slice the files to fit your bed (ender 3 you have to print them 45 degrees). VERY IMPORTANT:
  • make sure that image.stl and base.stl overlaps in the bed
  • set z-hop to 0.5mm in base.stl
  1. print the image.gcode file and remove from the bed the large thin border around it, BUT LEAVE THE REST OF THE PRINT ON THE BED

  2. replace the filament with a color of your liking

4 print the base.gcode on top of the image.stl, adding z-hop to 0.5mm

  1. remove the base from the printer

  2. print the plate.gdoce with a color of your liking

  3. remove the plate from the printer

  4. print the gasket.gcode, possibly with TPU, but PLA is ok as well

To assemble the keyboard:

  1. sand the Contra PCB with a dremel tool, until it fits in the case. Basically you need to shorten the sides and make place on the long sides so that it can fit along the screw pillars

  2. sand a bit the MX holes in the plate

  3. put the switches in the plates

  4. solder the PCB

  5. place the nuts in the housings on the bottom of the case

  6. close the case with the screws

  7. put the keycaps

  8. write your book ;)
