the Pfocus is the DIY single focus solution based on a wideangle converter.
While this has some downsides like soft edges, CA or a slight widening effect, it also has some benefits like little weight (around 335-365g), multiple mounting options, a good wideangle coverage as well as a super close focus distance. Please refer to the .pdf manual for full tech specs. The widening effect can also be considered as a benefit: the Pfocus can deliver an image which is actually wider than what a scope might be able to cover on its own (in other words, wider than what the Rapido FVD-35a could deliver with the same scope)

  • This build consists of five to seven printed parts and is very easy to assemble, the pitfall is the needed precision for the print as well as the post-processing of the parts.
  • the Pfocus is meant to be somewhat modular, therefore it can be made with Canon- or Nikon-Style focus direction, different front filter threads and three different mounting options - 77mm male threads like the SLRmagic Rangefinder, 75mm like a Rectilux Hardcore DNA or Rapido FVD-16a or a universal mount with lock-screws. As of April 2021, there's also a version with internal focus, limiting the close focus ability but giving a non-potruding front for a consistent vignette as well as better mattebox use
  • The additonal parts needed include things like screws and nuts, self-adhesive velours, step-down filters / empty filter, lens grease and of course the right wideangle adapter: a Fujinon WCV-82SC.

NOTE2: even if this project needs precision, it is still a 3D printed device based on a wideangle adapter and not a precisely machined and not properly calculated variable diopter. Don't expect mechanical or optical performance performance of an e.g. a Rapido FVD-16a or even Rectilux Hardcore DNA.

NOTE3: I added a new part, tP_SLEEVE_70mm.stl
Construction wise, the universal mount is 75mm. It needs this size, else you couldn't insert the rear lens. However, many many scopes are around 70mm in diameter. This new sleeve can just be pushed into the universal mount and brings the diameter down to 70.5mm, so you can just slip it onto your scope. The holes need to be aligned with the thumbscrews.
If you use a scope with a slightly smaller diameter, like an Ultra Star with its ~69mm, you can use some electrical tape to get it snug.
