I created this model to join the tessellating tiles contest on Printables.com. I'm both a Prusa printer, Pruser Slicer and Fusion 3D newbie, so it was a great exercise in modeling and tuning slicer and printer settings. Most designs uploaded for the contest are only 2D patterns, so I thought it would be nice to add the third dimension to my model for added complexity and infinite tiling / tessellation possibilities! The CubeCross object can be connected or stacked in multiple ways to create interesting tessellations or larger 3D objects. If you print multiple CubeCross objects you can make a nice big 3D sculpture that can double as a pen/pencil holder.

The CubeCross object can be printed in 2 halves (split the object at 30mm in PrusaSlicer) or it can be printed with support material. The connector can be printed in Vase Mode, and functions as a flexible alignment jig / plug to connect the printed halves or multiple CubeCross objects together. Use the plug to align both halves when using superglue to make a single object. The single wall plug can be easily removed with a screwdriver after the glue has dried. Scale the plug in the Z direction within PrusaSlicer if you need a longer plug to connect multiple CubeCross objects together.

Print settings I used:

CubeCross: PLA, 0.15mm layer height, 0,4mm nozzle, default settings for Prusament PLA in PrusaSlicer. Print time for each half is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Plug: PLA, 0.15mm layer height, 0,4mm nozzle, default settings for Prusament PLA in PrusaSlicer. Edited for Vase Mode: brim 4mm, no bottom, no top. See included .gcode file for MK3S+ printers. Print time is about 10 minutes.

Consider this model a work-in-progress project as I'm still learning Fusion 3D and refining both my skills and this model. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
