I'm using a Lowes shelf with the 1 1/2" hole spacing, the dowel holders are spaced for that and 1 3/8" dowel rod. The threaded rod for the skate bearings is 5/16 all thread very tight fit on a 8mm bearing may need to chill the rod and warm the bearings. The end nuts are threaded but a little under sized for a very tight (lock nut type fit) need to chase the thread with a tap or bolt same with the center of the dog bone. Makes quick change of filament much easier and gets the spools up out of the way as well as very smooth feeding.
Needed parts 1 3/8 Dowel
5/16 all thread rod
8mm x 22mm skate bearings (cheap on amazon)
I printed on CR10s
10% infill all laying flat except the dowel holders standing up with supports
.3 mm layer height
Cheapest PLA I had
