Sony FDR-X3000/X1000 helmet side mount

Action camera helmet side holder

I made this holder to be connected directly on helmet by 3M VHB tape or zip tie. However zip ties requires to makes holes into helmet, which is not recommended way (keep on mind that any modification of your helmet means void of its warranty and have negative impact on helmets protection ability!).

Holder consists of 2 parts so it can be folded when it is not used. Camera is connected over 1/4 stativ screw. Theoretically there can be connected any of FDR Sony action cams, but personally I tested only FDR-X3000 and FDR-X1000.

Just note that the nice helmet in model made by Ivan Spasić was loaded from here.

After years of using I found that even smaller holder would be better ;-).

After day on snow in mountains I found that stativ screw wrapped by ice made impossible to remove camera from helmet till ice is melt. Therefore I modified screw head. Groves on the side of head was replaced by smooth surface to prevent from locking by ice.
