Glasslike Snowman in a Globe Bauble

General thoughts

This model is beautiful once post-processed properly. A bit of warning though, you will have some support material to remove on the inside of the globe. The effort is really worth the result, trust me. This is truly pretty!

What's needed

The best transparency is obtained with a transparent resin, sprayed with a clear varnish. You can alternatively use some clear frosted glass spray paint for a different effect. I haven't tried making this model transparent Prusament as my Prusa printers are quite busy over the Holidays but I will update some pictures later in January.

How I made it and what I learned

Patience is key when removing support material! If you get too hasty when removing the support, you risk scratching the surface of your Christmas ornament and it will be harder to make it look like glass. Do not despair though, some thin coats of spray varnish should do the trick. I find it works best to use a lot of thin coats. Bigger coats can result in dripping marks and a generally less refined finish.

I used Formlabs Clear v4 resin with a layer height of 0.025 mm. I had leftovers from work, but you're more than welcome to use your favorite brand of clear resin that is much cheaper and has the same visual properties.

I ran out of resin before being able to make a model with some frosted glass spray paint, but I'm excited to try it out! I'll update this to let you know how it goes early in January.
