Description

PDF

Got the idea from a game menu. The finished part looks really cool during the day, its triangles reflect the light when you move around it.

It is mounted to an old ikea lamp, which is no longer sold.

When printing in black, no light shines through the lampshade when the lamp is switched on. That was not really intended. This design would also work great in white or transparent, which would add a nice shine through effect.

Only use a quality low power LED lamp with 3d printed parts! Your shade might melt or catch fire otherwise.

How I Designed This

I used the attached python script to randomize the vertices from a previous design that was just round. This script only works well with round objects, but it can be adapted. Has some debug output to show how strongly the vertices have been moved.
